GOOOOOOOODMORNING bloggisphere… It’s the start of another year, and what a year it’s going to be. I have a little tickle in my tummy about 2017, and it’s screaming sparkle and glitter.

I know I shouldn’t shout, but I’m excited, what can I say? I expect all you drunkards have raging hangovers. But clear that ethanol fog blogettes, I have a super exciting announcement… and no… I haven’t published my book… not yet anyway.

The Bloggers Bash already has a venue, and now, drum roll, please…

It has a competition too.

This year we want the awards to be even bigger and better than last year, so we are fundraising in the form of a blog post competition. To be clear, GeoffleAli, and Hugh are not taking any backhanders here; there are no luscious Maldivian committee getaways planned, (sadly).

The Bloggers Bash Blog Post Competition 2017

If you would like to buy a ticket to the bash, go here.

Why: Each year the bash grows in popularity. That means we need bigger venues and better events and unfortunately that means the cost goes up too. We’re running a blog post competition to fundraise for the event, the more we raise, the better the Bash awards will be. So share this comp and get all your friends involved.

Theme: Connections. The Blogger’s Bash is all about connecting people. Each year we bring together dozens of bloggers who have made friends online but are yet to meet off screen. That moment of joy, the hug, the smile, there’s nothing like that moment of connection as true friends pull each other into a hug for the first time. It’s why we started the bash and why we continue to run it. So this year, the bash blog post competition is all about connections. Interpret that as you will.

Word Count: 400- 600 words. Pictures, videos, and artwork, can all be used in blog posts but the minimum word count is 400.

Deadline: The competition runs from January 1st to 23:59 GMT on March 1st. Entries will no longer be counted from 12:01 am on the 2nd March.

Judges: The Committee – GeoffleAliHugh and yours truly, Sacha.

What the judges are looking for: Your entries can be about anything as long as they are clearly connected to the theme. You could post videos, pictures, a short story or even paintings. If you decide on a picture based entry, the judges still want to see some words to go along with your submission (400 is the minimum). Tell us a story whether that be in words or pictures or otherwise, engage us, interpret the theme and make your blog post surprising or quirky. What does the theme mean to you?
Minor spelling and grammar mistakes won’t mark you down but do make sure you proofread your entries so that it’s easy for us to read and understand your posts.

The Cost: £5 entry – all proceeds go to funding the bash, payment accepted through PayPal only, at the bottom of the p.ost

The Prize: – The prizes will keep growing, the more entries we get, the higher the prizes go.

  1. What a great idea, and how enterprising you are!! HYN, Sacha xxx

(Love that the prizes include book critiques and a beta read!!!)

    1. Thanks Terry, Happy New Year to you too 😀 😀 Hope you had a good one. Glad you liked the prizes, we had to think long and hard over it – we have more lined up if we get enough entrants 😀

  2. Happy New Year Sacha.. will share around the sites.. Sounds like a great idea.. I will add another tenner to the other tenner when I see you in June. Others might feel like that is another option too. We all appreciate the work you and the team does to get this organised and happy to contribute to the costs. hugs xx

    1. Thank you so much Sally, that is so lovely of you <3 <3 I am getting really really super excited about this year - we have a ton of stuff lined up 😀 😀 and I really can't wait to meet you

        1. So I think there is a way to do it using the crown on my website on the sidebar. Chris Ape told me about it – I should do a post on it, Debby did one recently. Otherwise, what do I do? Email you info? Such a bore this no normal reblogging being self hosted

          1. I will usually catch on one of the social media sites but you can also @sgc58 me on twitter and I will always get. I have no idea why you guys cannot have the facility to reblog.. after all the faffing about over Christmas robbing us of so much as they force us into using their disney world inspired editing.. xxx

          2. I think we can reblog – it’s more complicated though – it comes under the crown. Also Debby G wrote a post about it a while ago, I might have to go find it and share it, as we want people to hear about the bash. Hope you had a lovely New YEAr?

  3. Happy New Year and may 2017 bring all that you wish for. Exciting news and great comp, count me in. When finished prepping the new years dinner and ehrm after a sleep, I will start the grey cells thinking. x

    1. YAY 😀 thank you – I hope one day you will be able to make it to the event too, although I know its real far for you 🙁 HAPPY NEW YEAR xx

          1. me too. The flights go direct from Inverness but it’s the money. Got three weddings to go to this year, we are going to have to not go to one at least. -sighs- when we become millionare successful writers then i’ll buy a private jet, maybe lol

    1. Thank you Marje, I hope you worked out how to do the reblog – that’s the one downside to being self hosted – the reblog is hidden! SIGH. Anyway, I hope you enter too, and I look forward to seeing you in June xx

    1. Thank you Norah – sorry I’ve not visited much, been head down in book completion and trying to actually be with my family a bit over the holidays! Happy New Year xx

  4. Happiest Greetings to all! I am, unfortunately, unable to join. Fundage on my end is still pretty much nonexistent.
I do wish all participants the best, and may the best in the bloggers shine through!
    Happy New Year to everybody!
    — John

    1. ahhh that’s such a shame, but maybe one day. There are so many people I would love to meet from the other side of the pond too, but not everyone can make it. Thanks for stopping in.

    1. I know, it’s crazy, I am terrified about next year already! :p haha. You better make it one day, I’d LOVE to meet you.

      1. I would love to meet you too! But I have no money… and the timing doesn’t work. I’m a teacher and the bash is usually the last week of school for me and I don’t feel right taking off the last week of school. Especially since I’ve never been to London before, so if I’m going to go there for any reason, I’m making a vacation out of it!

          1. I’ve had to bail … in my initial excitement I kind of overlooked the bash is on my wife’s Birthday weekend! … I’ll be at the mid March London Book Fair maybe see you there? Eric

  5. Sounds like a great opportunity! One question: What do you mean by “clearly connected to the theme?” Do you mean connected to the post subject or to the Blogger Bash?

    1. Hi Lyn, so in the blog post is a list of info, one of them is the competition theme, I’ve posted it below. But the comment means your entry needs to be focused on the theme. which is:

Theme: Connections. The Blogger’s Bash is all about connecting people. Each year we bring together dozens of bloggers who have made friends online but are yet to meet off screen. That moment of joy, the hug, the smile, there’s nothing like that moment of connection as true friends pull each other into a hug for the first time. It’s why we started the bash and why we continue to run it. So this year, the bash blog post competition is all about connections. Interpret that as you will.

  6. Wishing all my fellow bloggers a very happy, and above all, healthy, new year.

The theme is excellent and so appropriate. I’ve made lots of new connections in 2016 through following the super blogs of others and through picking up a few followers of my own blog. A new wave of friends came around the Annual Bloggers Bash 2016.

This competition inspires me: Lance feels another Coach Tour coming on!

    1. hehe, we aim to please!

oooh awesome, can’t wait to read your entry. So glad you made new friends at the bash, that’s what it’s all about and why we do it 😀

        1. Disclaimer: The Bloggers Bash Committee holds no responsibility for any personal injury incurred during the event from: jaw ache from smiling, side ache from laughing, or back ache from hugging.

  7. This is brilliant. I look forward to reading the entries. ‘Connections’ is a perfect theme and I hope to be connecting with you all one of these years. I’m envious each year but, also, wicked happy for you. Things are really coming together for this year’s Bash! ?

    1. Thanks Sarah, I know you’re not coming, but you can always join in if you have time :D. If not, then I am sure I will post up links to the entries at some point 😀

    1. Of course! It’s open to anyone, we had lots of European people come last time and we have a couple of US people who are trying to make it 🙂

  8. My story is in drafts being tweaked, our house has just sold yesterday after three days on the market! So i could be going to the bash in whatever clothes are not in storage! *gasp* it looks like some motor home time will be spent while house hunting. But I am doing my darndest to be with you all.

    1. ahhhhh!!! lol. I Just asked this question on another post. Sorry. Should have read all my comments first. CONGRATULATIONS on such a quick sale. 😀 thats awesome. I hope you find another house somewhere soon

  9. I’ve only just read about the competition on Hugh’s blog. Looks like a wonderful idea and great fundraiser. Quick question: is it open to international authors (who have Paypal and do the 5 entry/donation fee) or only people in the UK? I’m not seeing that mentioned anywhere. Thanks so much, Sacha!

    1. Hi Leigh, yep absolutely it’s definitely open to people internationally. ?? ALL are welcome (to the bash itself too – we have some friends coming from across the pond this year) The entry fee is still applicable but I can only charge in one currency so I went with pounds sterling, sorry if this causes a problem
