The Bloggers Bash is now less than 2 months away, which means the ABBAs (Annual Bloggers Bash Awards) are back! Every year, we run a set of awards nominated and voted for by you.
And if you don’t know what the Bloggers Bash is, DAMN you should. It’s an annual get-together for all bloggers from all platforms from all over the world, although it’s hosted in London. Wanna come meet your blogging buddies? Get your ticket here.
Each year we stage a two-step awards ceremony.
STAGE 1 – You ‘NOMINATE’ who you would like to see listed in each category.
STAGE 2 – You vote for your fave bloggers.
WARNING – MUST BE READ BEFORE NOMINATING
Now, a word of warning before you get nomination happy. Last year, lots of you did not read the rules or provide the correct information. That led to my poor committee needing to take a full week to track down the information for all the nominated bloggers. We are a non-profit, voluntary group of chappettes, therefore I have taken the decision as big boss lady Sacha that we will automatically disqualify any nomination that comes in with:
Either the wrong information
Or breaks the rules listed below.
We will not chase you for missing information and we will not notify you of any errors. It is your responsibility when nominating to triple check the rules and the nomination entry.
If you don’t know what the Bloggers Bash is by now, then you must live in the dark ages. It’s an annual get-together for bloggers from any platform blogging about any content, from any country in the world (although the event itself is held in London).
This year the bash is on the 10th June, you can buy your tickets from here.
Last year, we had a lovely guest speaker, Lucca from WordPress. This year, we have two amazing guest speakers planned… for those of you who attended, be assured their presentations are much shorter! (announcements soon)
Last week saw me visit the London Book Fair 2017, the UK’s largest book fair. Over 25,000 people attend to negotiate rights, deals, have agent sessions, attend insightful seminars and network with author services as well as meet fellow authors.
I spent two days there and frankly, I think they have to be the best two days of my entire writing career to date. I learnt so much, mostly unexpected things. But also things about myself, things about the industry, and things I didn’t even know I didn’t know.
But all that’s led me to one stark conclusion and one that’s resulted in me taking quite surprising action. Continue reading →
Well, folks, if you’re not on the Bloggers Bash mailing list, then you won’t have heard, but the committee has secured a venue. Yes, blogettes, the Bash is well and truly back, and trust me when I tell you, this year is going to be even bigger and better than last year.
If you don’t know what in the fuzzy bear I’m chirpsing about then where have you been for the last two years? The Bloggers Bash is an annual get together in London, England, for any and all bloggers. Doesn’t matter your platform, your theme, your content, or your word usage, if you blog, you’re welcome to come.
During the day we reveal the results of the Annual Bloggers Bash Awards as well as chat, talk writing, gossip, hug, hug and hug a bit more, eat, drink and be merry.
Ever wanted to meet the friends you’ve made blogging? Desperate to turn the virtual hug into a real one? Well now’s your chance.
*Wipes brow* PHEWWWWW, it’s all over. Can’t fricking believe it. The bash consumed me for the last couple of months. So much so, I actually took an entire week off the blog… AN ENTIRE WEEK WITH NO POSTS… I KNOW. Try not to fall over. I was shocked too. I didn’t even put up a fight!
It was spectacular. I loved every minute and wanted to do a little reflecting on the event before I swiftly force ask the committee to start work on next year’s do. (I gave them one day off. I’m nice like that!) *snigger*
But it’s all over, I really can’t believe it. First and foremost, a massive thank you to all of you, we had an enormous 6331 votes cast this year, and that is all down to you, the bloggers for helping to share the awards. So thank you <3 Continue reading →
Twas the night before Christmas the Bloggers Bash and four little bashers were busy squirrelling away final plans, stuffing winners envelopes and getting ready for the morning. The days of google hangout conference calls are over, Sacha has finished her counselling to stop saying ‘what about another poll?’, the committee has been united and the bash is on the final countdown.
But a rumour abounded that some BOOB was on the loose, and wanted to sabotage our plans. He/she/it/genderneutralbaddie would be in disguise. But which one would be outed/thwarted/twatted? Sacha said she was having none of it and maybe we should re-open nominations….
If you try something new for the first time and you don’t fuck it up, you’re probably not doing it right. Mistakes are natural, normal and help us learn to get better. I’m doing a monthly newsletter full of even more writing tips, competitions, handy writer hacks and news on my progress towards publishing. If you haven’t signed up yet, you can tick that off your list by clicking here. HINT!
I made mistakes. But I’m a writer. So standing up, dusting myself down and picking up the proverbial pen again is in my blood.
When I wrote the post on creating your perfect Author Newsletter I’d already found Mailchimp hard to set up and master. But SO many people said the same thing I knew I had to regroup and share some of the lessons I’d learnt doing my own newsletter. Continue reading →
