Totally agree on 12 rejections being nothing – in fact, I’d say there’s no number of rejections that’s too much, not least as by the time you’ve gone through them all there will be at least some staffing changes/assistants promoted and you can start all over again!

Exactly 🙂 Most of the agented-authors I’ve interviewed/spoken with in the past year say the same thing – it was via networking and one of the above methods that worked for them, but they never gave up on the traditional “query letter” process either 😉
