In reply to angelaackerman1. Ahhh, the character occupation is for the "next" book after Trey, called The Scent of Death. But either way, you've changed the way I look at character jobs anyway for like EVER! I will never again be so flippant about them! Thank YOU so much for giving me the honor of an advanced copy.

I thought I’d left a comment, but maybe some evil squidgy thing ate it. Sacha, I am so very glad this book turned on a few light bulbs – it did for me too! I will never just assign a job to a character because I need one, not when it is a bounty of great information about the character, and there’s so many ways to tie it to the fabric of the story. Thanks so much for bing on our ST and for reviewing the book. You’re ACES!

You are such a rock star, Sacha – I am so glad that this book was able to help you nut out some things in your Trey book! And don’t feel bad about not thinking more deeply about occupations before. I think most writers are guilty of this, Becca and I included! It wasn’t until we started really tucking ourselves into the storytelling table that we realized what a feast occupations present. The right job is basically story witchcraft, powering everything up. But even if a person isn’t going to weave it deeply, even just the characterization and “get to know the character” fast tracking makes it well worth taking some time to find the right job. 🙂
