There are very few people I know who aren’t aware of the pyramids.

BUT, the Egyptian pyramids aren’t the only mysterious pyramids in the world. Far from it. In Visoko, Bosnia, there reigns another king, and this one really is the biggest pyramid of them all.

Image from Wiki

Similarly to the Egyptian pyramids, there are three Bosnian ones. Osmanagich, the gentleman who discovered the pyramids claims that two of them represent the sun and moon. One of them stands at 720 feet, which frankly, dwarfs Giza at 481ft.

There’s ample stone work and steps to indicate that the pyramids are step pyramids like the Egyptian ones.

Some have suggested they were burial mounds. But no skeletons have actually been found in the vicinity. Skeptics claim they are natural mounds. But I didn’t think nature produced straight lines!

More to the point, some of the sandstone slabs forming the structure are over a meter thick, which when you consider it’s dated around 12,000BC (with some reports suggesting 25,000BC), makes you wonder how in the shitstick the rocks magically ended up there.

Add that to the fact the University of Paris has examined the concrete – yes, artificial concrete found in between the slabs making up the pyramid, (sound like brick laying anyone?) The university discovered the cement was resistant to 94 Megapascals of pressure. Yet, there are less than a handful of organisations that hold/create concrete that hard. In fact, one award winning material scientist and writer, Davidovits, claims the concrete in the pyramid is 5 times stronger and harder than anything we can currently make.

Photo taken from THIS website.

Another scientist (Harry Oldfield) studied the energy and radiation around the pyramid. He found that unlike a natural object, who’s energy radiation would be horizontal, the pyramid’s was vertical. It also extended much further into the sky than a natural objects energy would be capable of.

Like all the other pyramids in the world, there are geometrical alignments too. The three tips form an equilateral triangle, with a less than 2% error on the widths, the angles are also all 60 degrees and the sides align with North/East/South/West. Coincidence much? Does that sound like a natural object to you?

There’s a YouTube video detailing the geometrical alignments which goes into more detail about the N/E/S/W alignments and you can find that here.

Photo from Wiki: By Not stated – http://images.world66.com, CC BY-SA 3.0, https://commons.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?curid=18428009

The reason I find this interesting is because Osmanagić claims that the same people who made the Mesoamerican and Egyptian periods, made these ones.

Why is that interesting? Because it connects them all to the ancient astronaut theories. I’ll let you scratch your own head and figure out what I’m really saying.

The debate on whether these are real or not is enormous. One article on the ‘for man-made’ side is here, which gives nine convincing points.

Interestingly, there is a tunnel system underneath the pyramids. Osmanagić is convinced that these tunnels connect the pyramids to each other. To date, he has excavated over 1000m of tunnels all of which are heading in exactly the right direction to connect them.

I like the fact there is mention of another network of underground tunnels. Hollow Earth talks of the same thing, and yes, I know lots of theories do, but I like interconnectedness. I like when things match and stories collide. I mean, who came up with the London Underground anyway? Why would we think of travelling below ground when it would take so much effort to create that system. Has anyone stopped to ask that?

I also love the thought of a pyramidal city, with a network of underground tunnels. Maybe the tunnels are escape routes or perhaps that’s just how the creators got around. City shapes are something I’ve been fascinated with since I discovered Kowloon Walled City in China, if you haven’t heard of it check it out. I have based one of the cities in my novel Keepers on it.

Did this inspire story ideas for you? Have you heard of these pyramids? What do you think? Natural or ‘man’ made?

Ironic really, that the week before Martian the new Matt Damon film was released, NASA confirm there is water on Mars. Is it just me, or has anyone else noticed the frequency of ‘information’ releases about extraterrestrial life has increased significantly over the last 5 -10 years? I guaranty, give it 20 years and we will be told there is life out there. Quite frankly, I’m gobsmacked NASA didn’t release the fact there are microbes in the water on Mars as it is.

I mean, isn’t that a given? What water doesn’t have microorganisms and amoebas in it. I mean seriously, there isn’t even bacteria in the Martian water??? Doesn’t anyone else find THAT harder to believe than the fact there’s water on the planet?

This is one of the photos of Mars taken by NASA.

What you are being shown sadly, is false colour. They do this a lot and spout reasons like ‘it makes it easier to see and differentiate what they are trying to show us.’

Ah ha. I hate that.

Show me the real image, the real colours… why do they assume changing the colours is better than using an arrow to point out what they need to? Changing colours leads to all kinds of wrongly accepted information. Like, did you know the moon isn’t grey?! Yeah. For real. It’s sandy red coloured.

You can see that from official Chinese Jade Rabbit photos and video footage – watch the video right through to the end – the second half of the video is in colour and shows the moons real surface colour.

In the photo above, and below, you can see “Dark, narrow streaks…formed by seasonal flow of water on Mars. The streaks are roughly the length of a football field…are formed by briny liquid water” you can read the full story on NASA’s website. In addition, if you want to see some awesome and seriously inspirational photos in a collection, check out Flipboard.

NASA go on to explain that the water flow is intermittent, due to temperature fluctuations, they say,“They appear in several locations on Mars when temperatures are above minus 10 degrees Fahrenheit (minus 23 Celsius), and disappear at colder times.”

But by far the most interesting thing they say is this, from astronaut John Grunsfeld:

“Our quest on Mars has been to ‘follow the water,’ in our search for life in the universe, and now we have convincing science that validates what we’ve long suspected,” said John Grunsfeld, astronaut and associate administrator of NASA’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington. “This is a significant development, as it appears to confirm that water — albeit briny — is flowing today on the surface of Mars.”

“Search for life…. validates what we’ve long suspected.” Yeah… just read that first sentence again, Anyone else notice how he’s admitting by omission the fact they know there is life out there? What’s frustrating, is that they freely admit have the technology to detect what they term ‘signatures’ of salts and minerals in the water. That means they can detect trace or microscopic amounts of minerals You know what that says to me? That they can also detect frigging tiny microorganisms too.

NASA satellite photos

But water on Mars, isn’t the only interesting thing up there, and this wouldn’t be a weekly wonder without some kind of controversial topic… So… It is said, that there is a face on Mars. The face is a monstrous 3 km rock, first discovered in 1976 by the viking spacecraft and has divided the scientific community for decades, people either believe one of two things:

1. It is a trick of the light and caused by wind erosion

2. It was created by an ancient intelligent civilisation.

The 2001 photo is said to be more accurate because of increased technology and satellite capability.

Photo taken from a google search, arrows edited in by me.

I have seen other satellite photos claiming that the face has eyeballs, and some satellite photos which show teeth carved into the sculpture too. The interesting thing is, that despite photos being taken weeks apart, and from opposing angles and in different lighting conditions, the images still seem to show the same thing. A symmetrical object – it looks like a face from either side. All except the newly (2001) published photos, odd, given they have two decades of photos showing roughly the same thing.

The thing is even in the newer photos, there are perpendicular lines, and semi circles in it. ERM…. natural erosion does not produce straight lines, perpendicular ones or semi circles that form a perimeter round objects for that matter. Sure maybe one or two of those things might happen in some types of erosion – I am sure someone will be able to find an example of it just to be argumentative. But all of them? What are the odds?

On the face of probability, if the face was an isolated object, it’s just about believable that erosion could have done the one in a million thing and produced a face. But wait one…This ‘face’ isn’t an isolated occurrence in the region it’s located on Mars. It is near several other ‘odd’ objects. A pyramid for one, and secondly, what people are claiming is remnants of a city. All these objects have straight edges and non-natural shapes too including other smaller pyramids. I think if the ‘face’ was isolated it may be more convincing that it was a natural freak occurrence, but given that it is near dozens of other objects that appear to be ‘man made’ it makes the ‘erosion’ theory a little harder to swallow.

Not sure which camp I sit in, I would be happy to accept either, if only there was some serious, validated and convincing proof one way or another.

What do you think?

Weekly wonders are meant to inspire my writing, this has given me an explosion of ideas, you could do anything from: Sci-Fi, inspired Mars stories? Maybe humans have run out of space and migrate to Mars, maybe the airs run out, or perhaps we were invaded by an alien race, or maybe someone discovered we actually came from Mars and we decide to migrate back. I hope this has given you some inspiration.

But after some lengthy discussions with fellow blogger Ali, on what inspires us she <del>instructed</del> encouraged me to begin sharing some of the more ‘strange and unusual’ things I find inspiring.

As a Fantasy and Sci-Fi writer whilst my own imagination is useful, it sometimes needs a little help. Which is why I spend a lot of time researching the strange, unusual or controversial – I find it provokes lots more story ideas than the mundane.

It’s at this point I want to add a little disclaimer: any information put into these weekly wonder posts do not represent my opinion. They are merely a collation of facts, proposed theories and interesting concepts I have collated here because I found them interesting enough to be inspired by them.

Sound.

The properties of sound are usually thought of as musical, and entertaining. But sound propulsion and the ability to move objects using sound waves is fast becoming a tangible concept.

It is said that the mystery of Coral Castle can be explained through sound. Coral Castle a 1100 ton stone structure, built single handedly by Edward Leedskalnin, a 5ft, 100 pound Latvian gentleman between 1923 and 1951 in Florida USA.

Now, granted levitating a foam cup with sound waves is quite different to levitating a 28 tonne rock. But this is the mystery that surrounds the sculptures. Leedskalnin worked alone and at night shrouded in mystery so that no one knew how he had done it. Crystalinks website explains the wonder of the entrance to the castle:

“it’s made through a gate fashioned from a single coral block weighing nine tons. This miraculous monolith is approximately 80 inches wide, 92 inches tall, and 21 inches thick. It fits within a quarter of an inch of the walls on either side and pivots through an iron rod resting on an automobile gear. The enormous block balances so perfectly on its center of gravity that a visitor can easily push it open with one finger. People who are sensitive to electromagnetic energies fields will sometimes report headaches while standing inside the archway of the nine-ton swinging gate – door – thought to be over a vortex – and a major grid point of the planet.”

So how DID he do it? There were rumours Leedskalnin used strange cone shaped objects which emanated sound to levitate the enormous stone objects.

Cone like objects similar to the one on the left. This particular one however, is rather more ancient. It’s thousands of years old and covered in cuneiform scripture. An extremely ancient language developed by the Sumerians 3000-3500 BC.

I visited my favourite museum recently the British Museum in London. I was aware of a theory of sound propulsion to build the Egyptian pyramids, but I hadn’t seen any evidence suggesting it.

It wasn’t until I was in the museum that I found some evidence of these cones from in and around that era. The cone highlighted in the red circle, wasn’t just on one or two of the carved statues, but on dozens of them across various different sculptures, and interestingly from different cultures, Egyptian, Sumerian, Babylonian…The other interesting thing in the photo, is the bracelets the creature is wearing. Two identical bracelets with a circular plate. Kind of like a watch… I wonder what they did, and why there are two of them.

There is a debate that rages, about how 3-5000 years ago this sound technology was invented. Could it have been invented then? Some outright refute the claims, supporters of the ancient astronaut theory suggest an alien race gave the technology to humans.

There are similar theories around many of the ancient stone structures like the Pyramids or the stone of the pregnant woman in Baalbek, Lebanon. Which is a 1650 tonne monolith block that was partly moved, and then abandoned. No one knows why it was abandoned but it was meant to be used in a Roman temple close by. There are alternative, and possibly more plausible theories that suggest, this, and various other buildings like the Pyramids were built using ropes and pulleys and round wooden-bobbin like structures to roll the stones. I always thought that a little odd though, stone being heavier and denser than wood, surely it would immediately crush the bobbins?

Which theory is true? And what does it all mean? I don’t know. Maybe we never will. But I certainly found it interesting and it made my mind race with ideas about technologies for future or past races other things sound could do and lots of other stories. What do you think? Did you find this interesting?

I’ll leave you with a quote Leedskalnin is famed for saying repeatedly:

“I have discovered the secrets of the pyramids, and have found out how the Egyptians and the ancient builders in Peru, Yucatan, and Asia, with only primitive tools, raised and set in place blocks of stone weighing many tons.”
