Writespiration #124 52 Weeks in 52 Words Week 28

2017 brings 52 challenges over 52 weeks.

Your challenge is to write your story using the weekly theme/prompt and write it in just 52 words…. EXACTLY, no more, no less.

Submit your entries in the comments or on a blog post. You have until Sunday to enter.

I’ve just landed from Lanzarote, after two glorious weeks in the sun, quality family time and very little computer time! It was SO needed. Therefore, inspired by my holiday, this week your challenge is to write about:

The Holiday

I’ve included a little photo that I took on the beach. If you don’t know anything about Lanzarote, it’s a volcanic island. Which means all the beaches are made of crushed up larva rocks and such like. It’s stunning to say the least. Anyway, here’s a lone tree on a volcanic beach.

Please note, I have more than a few comments to catch up on from the last two weeks of writespirations and posts. Expect a delay before I respond to your entries.

I’m running a GoodReads giveaway for 13 Steps To Evil, if you haven’t entered, you can win a signed paperback here.

  1. In honor of your holiday, Sacha:

“You’ll love it, you said.” I glared at my partner. “A holiday on a volcanic island… black beaches, margaritas, ocean breezes.”

“The tickets were a steal, honey. They swore it was one of the hottest destinations.”

Ash blanketed my shoulders as lava fill the resort pool. “You got what you paid for.”

  2. I love Lanzarote. Unique landscape, howling winds and plenty of time to relax and recharge one’s batteries. I’ve slowed down on my blogging too lately. Also needed the break… I’ll try to come up with 52 words this week!

  3. Here’s my take, Sacha. Not sure if I can join in mid-way but thought it would be fun to write a story based on the prompt. Here goes:

She woke up to a bright sunny morning in an empty room. They had just broken up.

She left her room and walked towards the beach. Habits die hard, they say. Twenty-five years together was a long time.

    She wanted freedom, not loneliness.

Won the battle? Yes. But lost the war!
