Sacha, I have a problem with the voting. Could you put the full name of the person, or the name of their blog (Like Between The Lines) (or even something like ‘Jane Brown’s book blog’ if they haven’t got a name for the blog)? Because with some of them I might know the blog if I saw the full name, but as it is, just ‘Tony’, or whatever, it could be anyone!! You can always find the full name of the blogger by looking at the ‘about’ page on the blog.
Sorry, I know you’re busy!! Just that I’d like to vote in some more categories but I don’t know whose any of them are. ;^D
Sacha Black says
Hi Terry, I have let the committee know your feedback and it is something we are looking to rectify for next year. We do understand what you are saying and agree with you. We were somewhat restricted by the information given to us. And despite 15 hours of traipsing through blogs looking for names, we didn’t always get them. We have spent HOURS trying to get this post even to the state it is and have tried to put as many names/blog names in as possible. We have also provided links so that anyone can check who is who. I am away for the next few days on a family break, so I won’t be able to do anything until next week, at which point I have a HUGE work week. I’ll endeavour to make some changes the following week, but it will realistically be a bit late by then for the general voters. But we have made a note and intend to ensure there is more information for next year. Sorry.
Terry Tyler says
Thanks for answering, sorry to be so picky, but a few people had mentioned it to me (‘how can I vote for a blog with just the people’s first names?’ so I thought I’d have a word!! It hadn’t occurred to them to click the link – I totally get that this sort of thing is fraught with teething troubles (like self nominations!! :D). I suppose it could be rectified by asking people to give the full name of the person whose blog they are nominating, as well as adding the link, or the name of the blog…. but you always get people who don’t read instructions, I know. urgh!!! Anyway, seems from Twitter like loads of people are voting 🙂
Sacha Black says
I think (my memory is hazy now) we did ask for names of the blogger but we didn’t ask for full names so that’s an error on our part But each year we refine and develop our process so hopefully next year we will iron out those problems.
Lol in over 350 nominations we probably had less than 15% which were correctly done. I don’t think any of the instructions were read. It took Geoff and Ali four straight days to sort through them all. We have learnt lots of big lessons this year.
When I get this week over I’ll endeavour to make some corrections where I can.
