“How comfortable are you writing about difference?”
I am an very “new” writer and feel most comfortable writing about protagonists who are quite similar to me in terms of personality and emotional responses, but I surprised myself recently by writing a short story where the protagonist is a male rapist devoid of emotions – needless to say, very different from myself, and that was really enjoyable, in a morbid kind of way…
